'Echo Victor'
A Schempp-Hirth Discus-2cT with hand controlled rudder
This glider belongs to the Evens family, co-founder of Albatros Zweefvliegclub in Hasselt, the gliding club where I fly gliders and motor glider. Three generations have the honor to fly this glider up to 4-figure distances and competitions.
A unique feature of this glider is the hand control for the rudder. Ken Evens has MS disease and sits in a wheelchair. Because of limited leg movement, long flights became difficult. With the hand controlled rudder, he manages the yaw control of the glider. As the normal rudder pedals are still in place, his father and son can jump right into it and also enjoy this beautiful machine.
Echo-Victor is often seen in formation with Charly Alpha.
